Gifts of nature: from the unique caves to fine wine

The Caves of Neptune, placed near the town of Alghero, in the promontory of Capo Caccia, are the most beautiful of Sardinia. The promontory of Capo Caccia has an altitude of about 170 meters high up above the sea. Along the Escala Cabiria, going down more than 654 steps carved into the rock, you reach the caves of Neptune. The caves have an area of about 1,200 meters. In the caves one will find the musical organ Hall, in which the stalactites and stalagmites form columns reminiscent of a church organ. In the Knight's Hall there is a dome, in which it seems that one can take in no account  the force of gravity, with stalagmites on the ceiling of very bizarre shapes. And several other caves are there to be discovered It is difficult to imagine the exact origin of these caves, but since a cubic centimeter of a stalattite needs more than 100 years to form itself, speleologists suggest that the age of the caves is close to two million years.

The caves can only be visited with an organized tour. If you are not willing to walk down the long staircase, it is possible to reach the caves with boats departing from Alghero. The uniqueness of Sardinia is found not only in these nature's masterpieces, but also in men made products, i.e. Sardinian wine, an emblem, the drink of centenarians, which can be sampled in one of the oldest wineries of the Island where we will go at the end of the trip to the caves.

The duration of the excursion is half day (up to 4 hours) Walk + ferry + transfer

The tour price does not include tickets to the wine tasting and for access to the caves
